Aftercare for Chemical Peels

A little dryness, tightness, light flaking and sensitivity can be completely normal, especially from day 2–4. The goal is to support the skin barrier while it does the work.

First 24–48 hours

  • Keep skincare simple: gentle cleanse, moisturise, and protect.

  • Avoid active ingredients (retinoids, acids, vitamin C “treatments”, exfoliating toners, scrubs).

  • Avoid heat + heavy sweating (hot yoga, saunas/steam rooms, intense workouts). If you’re feeling sensitive, extend this longer.

  • No picking or exfoliating.

SPF is non-negotiable

  • Use SPF 50+ daily and reapply if you’re outside.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure. Post-peel skin is more reactive to UV, and pigmentation risk increases without protection.

Days 3–7

  • You can usually reintroduce actives after 2–5 days, only once the skin feels settled (your therapist will guide you).

  • If you’re feeling tender, keep things gentle for longer.

For the first 2 weeks

  • Avoid waxing, threading, hair removal creams, bleaching (and dermaplaning) on the treated area.

  • Skip other strong treatments in the area unless we’ve planned them as part of your programme.

What to use instead

  • Prioritise barrier repair and hydration (the “comfort” routine). Follow the homecare we recommend for you.
